Do you offer financial assistance? We do not offer financial assistance, but we would advise you to contact your international programs or career adviser to ask whether scholarships or funding is available through your academic institution.

When will I know where I am interning? You will know after your placement interview where you will be interning which usually takes place in June or July.  You will be interviewed over the phone or via Skype and placed according to your experience and interests.  Details of the host companies we work with may be available on request.

Can I live at a friend or relative’s house to take the cost out of housing? Internship Scotland provides an all-inclusive programme for all participants, so we would not be able to remove any elements from the programme.

Will my internship be a paid position? The programme does not include a salary. A voluntary agreement must be signed by the intern and the company, which details that the position is voluntary and unpaid.

What hours should I expect to work? You should expect to work a minimum of 10 hours per day with a minimum of at least 1 day off in the month of August. The structure of hours varies between companies and may include late-night hours.

How likely is it that I can turn my internship into full-time work? There is no guarantee that you will be offered full-time work. You should not expect to find full-time work following your placement. Verification of paid round-trip transportation required.

What will my accommodation be like? You will be given your own bedroom in an apartment shared with other programme interns. Accommodation is co-ed.  There will be a kitchen and a living room with TV and internet access. The location is great for socialising and enjoying the city.

When should I book my round-trip transportation? You will be given guidelines on booking your transportation after you receive an acceptance notice and your programme deposit has been paid. This information will include arrival and departure dates and arrival times for group pick-up.
