Festival Internship

Festival street performerFestival Fireworks over Edinburgh Castle

Imagine an atmosphere buzzing on art and theatricals, with pubs and street corners transformed into lime-lit stages. Masses of people have come from around the world to see a performance that you have helped produce.

Perhaps it’s been reviewed. Perhaps you’re one of the reviewers. Perhaps, more than anything, it’s just another day on the job.

As you make your way down the world renowned Royal Mile, on your way to work, you see Edinburgh Castle at one end. Along the bottom is the Scottish Parliament. And from top to bottom, you sense the bustle of a city prized for being UNESCO’s first world heritage site for literature.

Welcome to a dream job, an opportunity to work and study in a city renowned for hosting the world’s largest performing-arts festival, the Fringe.

Participants will enjoy a four-week internship with an Edinburgh Festival production company facilitating the smooth running of the show. Tasks may include: reading, analyzing and improving scripts; reporting on productions and writing reviews; observing rehearsals and scouting for shows to bring to other festivals; participating in educational programmes and networking events; working with the press to market shows; and participating in stage-crew and event-monitoring.

The academic component in July is compulsory and proceeds your internship.

Best of luck on your application!
