Internship Scotland in collaboration with the University of Edinburgh Business School provides an eight-week summer programme that gives college students a unique academic and work experience in one of the leading capital cities of Europe.

Who is it for?

  • Students who are currently enrolled in an undergraduate college or university outside of the United Kingdom.
  • Students wishing to enhance their resume and employment prospects by gaining international work experience.
  • Students wishing to learn more about Scotland.
  • Students who may be considering further education in one of Scotland's leading institutions after college.

Who is it not for?

  • Graduates looking for long-term employment in Scotland.
  • Students looking to improve their English language skills (all interns must have excellent English written and communication skills).
  • Students who have a Business major.

Programme includes:

A four-week academic programme at the prestigious University of Edinburgh Business School.  The programme entitled "An Introduction to Business in the Arts" will be delivered by leading academics and practitioners in this field.  The programme will provide 20 University of Edinburgh credits which equates to 6 US credits on transfer back to a US institution (please check with your study abroad office).

A four-week internship programme with an Edinburgh Festival production company in August. Additional credits for your internship experience will also show on the university transcript.

Participants are provided with centrally located accommodation in Edinburgh so they can enjoy Scotland's capital city on evenings and weekends. Accommodation includes kitchen facilities, wifi internet, TV and double bedrooms for each intern. Accommodation is provided by the professional team at Destiny Scotland Group.

Meals are not provided, but local supermarkets are within easy walking distance of the apartments.

All participants are met at the airport by an Internship Scotland representative and taken to their accommodation (subject to participant arriving at Edinburgh Airport on correct dates).

In addition:

One weekend excursion is organised. Bring your camera as we enjoy activities such as Highland tours, castle visits, golf, gorge-walking or river-rafting.

An orientation session is held on the first weekend to familiarise interns with the city.

An evening reception will allow interns to meet each other and staff from their host companies in a relaxed and sociable atmosphere.

On-site support from Internship Scotland staff will be available throughout the programme.
